Class 121 units at Bletchley Station, 23 January 1999.
Operating between Bletchley and Bedford, only one unit ever had the doors unlocked. The overbridge is swathed in scaffolding and plastic sheeting during so-called 'improvements' at Bletchley. The old station buildings on Platform 6 have since been demolished.

Conflagration at United Counties' depot, Castle Street, Luton.
Typically, the engine stop wouldn't work on a UCOC Bristol RE, so bus engines would often be left running all night. This one was probably not left in neutral, and buses were parked so close together that firemen had trouble getting to the seat of the fire. The incident was also a total PR fiasco as the office building opposite housed 'The Luton News'.

Routemaster buses are fun to drive to rallies, but were a PITA to drive in service, with dozens of them standing idle for years waiting for replacement engines and gearboxes. In Stockwell garage alone, two rows of RM's had gone green from the droppings of pigeons resident in SW's vast roof. Preserved RM16 (VLT 16) is pictured at the short-lived Winterhill depot of Milton Keynes City Bus, shortly after a repaint at that garage. RM512 (WLT 512) was one of several purchased by Stagecoach United Counties in 1988. As UCOC 701, it was re-registered HVS 710 in 1992, withdrawn in September 1993, exported to Mexico in 1999, and last seen in service in 2003 at the Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
A consortium of private operators mopped up all the Sunday service contracts in Milton Keynes after deregulation. Aylesbury-based 'Red Rover' used ex-LT DMS's until Keith Garages sold the operation to Luton & District.
F774 EKM was an MCW Metrobus Mk2, new to East Kent in 1989, and numbered 7774 by Stagecoach East Kent. It stayed in its Stagecoach livery for years, and it was still pounding the roads of north Buckinghamshire as a school bus until 2014 when it was scrapped simply because it's MoT was about to expire and nobody could be bothered to attend to the matter. Print the enlarged image on card, cut it out, paste it together, amuse yourself.
